Disney World Day 1

Our first day at Disney World was Thursday, May 21, 2015.  We woke nice and early and were headed out the door by 6:30 am!  It was hard to get up early, but so worth it to get to there before it was crazy crowded.  We found that it was best to arrive 30 minutes before the parks opened and to head back to the hotel around lunch time for naps.  And we always took advantage of Early Extra Magic Hours when they were available.  It seems to get extra hot and crowded started around 11 everyday.  We are loaded up and headed out of our hotel...

We decided to go with 2 singles strollers instead of the double stroller.  If I needed to take Mercer off to feed her or if we wanted to just park Mathis' stroller and still keep Mercer in hers we could.  You have to collapse the strollers when getting onto the buses but not on the monorail.  You have to park your stroller (ouside in stroller parking) before going into almost any ride and restaurant.  I wish we could have just rented strollers at the park, but they are still too little for that.  We needed them at the airport and outside of the park.

The first park we went to was Magic Kingdom.  The MK had Early Magic Hours that day so they were opening at 8am.  They had a welcome show from Mickey and all his friends!  It was so cool because they all arrived on the steam train!  They opened the park with the show and we were into the park by 7:50 am.

Mathis was mesmerized by all the characters welcoming us into the park.  So fun!

Some of the characters and the family that was chosen to help open the Magic Kingdom...

That moment when you first see Cinderella's Castle...

We had booked our Fast Passes 60 days prior.  And we used "T Lines" to help plan our trip.  We did not follow the plans too closely but it helped give us an idea of what we wanted to do.  One of our first rides was Winnie-the-pooh.  Mathis loved the ride and loved Pooh's little house that was out in front of the ride - he could have played here all day.  He was chanting the Winnie-the-Pooh theme song and playing with the honey pots.

Mathis loves a carrousel!  He had been looking forward to riding this and of course he loved it.

The evil step-mother and step-sisters - it was fun to see them in character riding the carrousel!

Mathis had a great time playing at Casey Jr Splash and we were all up for getting wet - it was already hot!  This was another area he would have been happy to stay at all day.  Over in this area we road a little roller coaster called the Barnstormer.  Mathis said it was scary but he wanted to ride it again.  And he also rode Dumbo with G-Bob.

We road the Mad Tea Party (tea cups).  And also did the Tomorrow Land Speedway.  I got to ride with Emma and she had a great time driving all by herself!  I just got to push the petal.  It was a jerky ride but her giggles all the way through were worth it.

I found a little spot to nurse Mercer while everyone else rode Journey of the Little Mermaid.  The ride stopped and when it stopped they were at the part with Ursela - Mathis was not a fan.  We had a Fastpass for the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train.  Mathis & Emma were just tall enough!  It was an intense roller coaster for the little kids but pretty smooth.  They liked it!

We rode It's A Small World - a great ride to chill and cool off (and feed Mercer).  And then we had Fastpasses to meet Cinderella and Rapunzel.  Emma was so cute meeting Cinderella - the look on her face was priceless!  And Mathis was super shy.  He wanted me to go with him to meet them.  Rapunzel asked Mathis if he wanted to touch her hair and he was so shy he turned her down!  This boy loves hair and he missed his opportunity of a lifetime!!  haha.

Next up was Peter Pan's Flight - which we had a Fastpass for.  Mathis is currently a huge Jake and The Neverland Pirates & Peter Pan fan so this was a lot of fun to ride with him.  As were were "flying" on the ride he kept telling me that he wanted to go fly outside.  I guess he was a little disappointed that the pirate ship was not going to make its way outside.  ha ha.

Sweet Mercer did really well.  She got fussy at times, but overall was a trooper.  Around 12:45 we headed back to our hotel to eat lunch (one quick service meal) and took a good 3 hour nap!

We had dinner reservations at Mickey's Backyard BBQ.  We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then rode the water taxi to the Campsite's at the Fort Wilderness Resort.  This dinner was so much fun!!  It was barbecue buffet with entertainment from Mickey and his friends.  Mathis had a great time dancing with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip & Dale!  He also enjoyed watching the cowboy roper.  And at the end we got a picture with Mickey and Minnie.  At this point Emma was terrified of the characters.  She was crying from our table just seeing them on the dance floor.  Thankfully after this dinner she warmed up to them and then became obsessed wanting to get pictures and autographs with all of them!

Sheriff Woody ready to go to Mickey's Backyard BBQ!

After dinner we went back to the Magic Kingdom.  We rode some rides and then watched the Main Street Electrical Parade.  After that we headed back to our rooms and slept great!
