Newborn - Man & Mommy Must-haves

These are just a few of our favorite things while Mathis was a newborn.  He is almost 3 months old but it is already hard to remember those days, it flew by!

Fisher-Price Newborn Rock ‘n Play Sleeper

My parents got us this from Babies R Us and we love it!  Natalie told me about it because she thought I might like it and she was right!  He slept in this from the day he got home until he was about 6 weeks old.

Summer Swaddle Me Infant Wrap

We started using these pretty quickly after Mathis was born.  He loved to be swaddled but he was also a very squirmy baby.  So he would not last long swaddled in a blanket.  This wrap was nice and snug and velcroed so he could not wiggle his way out.  When he was around 6 weeks old he started to get frustrated with it and did not want to be swaddled anymore.

Nose Frida – Nasal Aspirator

Although this looks disgusting it is not and it is awesome!  Mathis had some nasal congestion and the bulb syringe was not able to get any of it.  My friend told me about this and it works so quickly!  We still use this with Baby Saline Spray if needed.

Having friends and family bring us meals was so helpful!  My friend Tricia set up a Care Calendar for us and we had meals for a month!  She sent it out to our family and friends and they signed up to bring us meals.  It was great!

Sleepy Sounds App

We still use this one occasionally as well.  I use the lullabies sometimes but mostly use the White Noise.  When Mathis is really worked up and crying I will turn this on loud and it usually makes him stop.  I like it too, kind of sounds like rain Smile

Baby Feeding Log App

This is another app that was really helpful in the beginning especially with breast feeding.  It’s like the Itzbeen Pocket Nanny but its free!

Disposable Nursing Pads

For me, these were a must-have and still are to this day.  I hate spending money on these!  The most affordable ones that I have found are the Nuk brand at Wal-Mart.

Lanolin

Only used this for a couple days in the beginning but it seemed to help.  A lit bit goes a long way, you don’t need much at all.  And the great thing about it is that you don’t have to wash it off before your baby nurses.

My Breast Friend

I did not register for this but my sister got one and she let me borrow it.  It was so helpful with nursing in the beginning.  It provides great support for your arms and baby when you are nursing.  I was surprised how much I really liked this!
