I can’t believe that he is already a month old! I am continually reminded of how quickly it goes by so I am trying to savor every moment of this newborn. The good news is that as he is getting older it is only getting better. Here are some pictures taken when he was 1 month old…
Some stats on my sweet 1 month old…
This picture cracks me up! ha ha. This happens a lot, so after many changes of clothes, the bib has become his new best friend.
Thankfully he is a good eater and I have had a good milk supply. Breastfeeding is going great for us so far. The first 2 weeks he would eat every 2-3 hours around the clock (I was having to set my alarm at night to wake him up). At his 2 week appointment Dr. Mitchell said I could start letting him go as long as he wants through the night and the 1st night he went 4 hours then that turned into around 4-6 hours in between feedings during the night. By 2.5 weeks old he was on a schedule – eating before we go to bed (anywhere between 9:30 and 11) and then waking up between 2 and 3am. He is becoming a little chunk! He wakes up between 6 and 7:30 and is ready to go for the day. This is his most alert and happiest time of the day. At a month old he is He is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room and taking naps in his crib. Every night he sleeps in a Swaddle Me. He wore a couple of cloth diapers before he was a month old but they were still a little too big, they would leak around the leg holes. He was in the newborn diapers for 2 to 3 weeks then switched to the size 1’s. He likes bath time and when we read to him. I try to read a devotional to him in the morning (right now I am using 100 Favorite Bible Verses for Mommy and Me) and also another book. He then “plays” in his bouncy seat while I take a shower, eat breakfast and pump. He usually falls asleep in his bouncy seat. The rest of the day just depends on what we have planned. We try to eat, play then sleep (a lesson from Baby Wise). For “play” time we use the bouncy seat, play mat, swing and books/toys. Once Charlie gets home he spends time with him watching TV and reading to him. Charlie gives him a bottle 2-3 times a week. We work hard to keep him awake 2 hours before he goes to bed so that he will sleep well at night. This is not always successful but he usually sleeps the same throughout the night. We were blessed that he did not have his days and nights mixed up, he sleeps well during the night. During the day when he gets tired he cries and likes his pacifier. As he is awake more, that does mean more fussy times, but those have gotten easier to handle as we are learning his different reasons for crying. I love the newborn phase although it has its challenging times. The other day Mathis was crying and Charlie said, “I am ready for this phase to be over!” ha ha. One of the first nights home Mathis woke up crying right after I had laid him down and Charlie woke up and said, “Why does he keep doing that?!?” I think he was half asleep but it was funny. Charlie is really helpful during the day after he gets home from class and he gets up on nights that he does not have class the next day to help change his diaper and burp him. We have left him with our parents so that we can go on a date or run some errands, but for the most part he joins us wherever we go. At his 1 month appointment Dr. Mitchell said that he seems to have a good temperament and seems to be a pretty laid back little guy. We love him so much and are enjoying every minute with him.

I LOVE the spit up picture. haha! So funny. I also like the way you did stats on that one pic…I may have to still that idea with our new baby ;) Hopefully I'll find the time to keep blogging even with 2 little ones… :/
Mathis is a cutie! :) and I think he is starting to look more and more like you (maybe he still looks like Charlie's baby pics, but he looks more like adult Ginni than he does adult Charlie :)
Thanks Lauren! :) Totally steal the stats idea - I stole it from Pinterest :).
