It’s Almost Baby Time

Well as of today I will be 38 weeks and 3 days.  I am so excited to have made it to this point, but then again I feel like my pregnancy would last until 42+ weeks!  At my last appointment (37 weeks 4 days) I was not dilated or effaced.  She said he had dropped, but that was about it.  My blood pressure was still high in the office, so she decided to keep me for some lab work and we did a fetal non stress test – which were both good.  The fetal non stress test consisted of me laying in a chair with the monitors (fetal heart rate  & contraction) on me and I pushed a button every time I felt him move.  She mentioned that she was wanting to possibly induce on Monday 8/6/12 because I would be 38 weeks and with my blood pressure still high she did not want to wait much longer.  After talking to her about Charlie’s schedule (it is easier for him to miss a Friday because he can reschedule his Friday clinical vs. missing a full day of class) she put me on the schedule to be admitted Thursday 8/9/12 for cervical ripening.  When she came in and told me that I was on the schedule – inside I kind of freaked out, ha ha.  Just want to make sure that Mathis is ready and that my body is ready.  I trust that my doctor is doing what is best for us and I know that God is in control – thank goodness!  She told me to try some spicy food – so I have done that plus all the other things you can think of to move things along (pineapple juice, evening primrose oil, raspberry leaf tea, sex).  I can’t do any walking, so that does not really help things.  I would of course like to avoid a c-section, but again we want whatever is best for Mathis and me.  So please be praying for a safe labor, delivery, and of course a healthy baby boy! 

This past weekend was our last weekend just the 2 of us!  It is crazy to think how quickly your life can change!  We enjoyed it as much as we could, while not being able to go anywhere.  Charlie got us Pei Wei for dinner Saturday night and we watched We Bought A Zoo (really cute movie).  We slept in and just enjoyed doing nothing together!  He has been soooooooo helpful with me on bed rest.  I get frustrated sometimes - with my type A personality – but he totally gets me and does whatever he can to help.  Charlie is such a good husband and I can’t wait to see him in his next role as a Dad!  Love him so much!
