After Charlie was hired on with the Dallas Fire Department he found out that he would be a Sub-Rookie. Instead of starting his fireman training he would be delivery mail, running errands, distributing clothing, and answering phone calls. Each class that is hired has around six Sub-Rookies and they are in that position until the next class is hired (maybe 6 months to a year) then they begin their training with the next class that starts. Charlie was okay with this, just a little bummed that it would be delay starting his 24 hour on 48 hour off working schedule. The first week into training one of the rookies quit and they asked Charlie if he would like to begin his training. Of course he said yes!! The training is Monday thru Friday for around eight months then they are put at a station and begin the 24 on/48 off schedule. So he is currently training with the Dallas Fire Department and he is loving it!
