Me in 1st grade after loosing a tooth.
This week my pride and joy was taken away from me. I decided after going to my dentist, Dr. R since forever that I would switch to a local dentist in Rockwall. So I found this cute dentists office in Rockwall and had my new patient appointment this week. I have always loved going to the dentist, I have gone every six months for as long as I can remember. The reason that I love it is because all I have ever had to have done is x-rays, routine cleanings, and when I was little I got tooth sealant as a preventative measure. So I have my first appointment at the cute dentist office in Rockwall this week. Everything is going great, the dental hygienist is saying that my teeth look great and that it is amazing that I have never had a cavity or any orthodontics as she is cleaning my teeth. Of course my head is growing bigger with pride of my excellent dental record. This is the thing I have been holding onto for years! It is the thing I use when I play that game two truths and a lie and when I want to ooohhh & awww someone – “I have never had a cavity or had to have braces.” I don’t know what it is good dental hygiene, healthy saliva, good genetics? So the dental hygienist has finished cleaning and flossing my teeth. She then starts to poke around and I hear her say, “Uh-oh.” I think I broke out into a sweat! Finally she gives me the news that she thinks I have a little area of decay! No pain, the x-rays don’t show anything, but there is a small spot of decay that if it is not filled will only get worse over time. I could not believe it! The dentist came in and confirmed it and said that I should probably get it filled. So I scheduled my first filling! I hope it does not hurt!! I have never had a shot in my mouth before, ha ha!
So I guess I am growing up, 26 almost 27 years cavity free is pretty good. I had a good run. So long pearly whites…
Me and my sister Abby AKA “Bad Tooth Barnett” – long story for another time. Love you Abby!
P.S. I am only exaggerating this situation. I know things could be a lot worse. I hope you find it amusing ![]()
Happy Friday!!
Also – if you don’t have anything to do tomorrow come visit me at the MEPA Holiday Bizarre at Poteet High School, 9am-5pm, admission is free, and there are going to be over 100 vendors! Hope to see you there!

this post cracked me up b/c I am the exact same way!! never had a cavity or braces either. I just went to the dentist on monday and Casey and Lauren both were hoping I would get my first cavity! I came home and said that the dentist said "your teeth are what we call excellent!" hahaah! That is so funny we went to the dentist at the same time. :) I hope the filling doesn't hurt! See you soon!
haha oh i love you sister...I am so sad you had to go through this..but welcome to group!
Virg! You are so funny, but I know that I've heard you "brag" to those of use who've had major dental work (i.e. 16 teeth pulled, and 6 years of braces) so this was extra funny to hear! Although, even through all my dental woes I have only had one cavity! I'm sorry you've had to take your badge of honor down but just add "26 years of loyal teeth brushing" and I think you should still be proud! haha
