Last night was First Monday at Community Life Church and it was great! All the women brought supplies (toothpaste, toothbrush, pacifiers, bottles, first aid kits, etc.) to give to the people of Haiti who were affected by this earthquake. We got to meet a women, who is from Haiti and whose family is still in Haiti. Then Jill McDill (whom I love!) spoke about truly loving and serving God’s people all over the world. Paul and Jill have 3 boys and to hear Jill say that God loves a child in Guatemala or Haiti or wherever as much as he loves Caleb, Noah, and Joshua (their 3 kids) was so mind-opening! We made cards for the kids, which was fun. All of the supplies and cards were delivered to Buckner this morning and will be sent out to Haiti Thursday. We also watched a video of the devastation in Haiti (so sad).
This modern translation of Matthew 25:42-43 that Jill shared was so convicting:
“For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me to deported. I needed clothes, but you needed MORE clothes. I was sick, and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserved.”
Last night encouraged me to pray for God’s people, actively love people, and be thankful for God’s blessings. We have so much. If you know of any opportunities to serve please let me know!
We did manage to have fun of course! I love being on the First Monday Team of Girls, they are awesome! Just a few of us…
I hope you are having a great Tuesday!
