We re-textured almost the entire house. The living room had paneling, which we removed and did a light skip trowel texture. We did the skip trowel texture throughout most of the house – entry way, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, master bathroom, and master closet. We did a pretty light skip trowel throughout the house, more smooth surfaces than trowel marks.
Skip Trowel: Texture is applied to the wall with a trowel. Trowel marks are made on the surface.
We left the Crows foot texture in the game room and guest bath, and the other 2 guest bedrooms. Not my favorite texture, but it works.
In the Jack & Jill bath we left the knock down texture.
We have some great friends! Pat & Jaimee voluntarily (I swear we did not make them, ha ha) came over and helped us texture this summer. There was one weekend that they came over everyday and came during the week after work. We appreciate their help soooooo much! It was a lot of help and it was a lot of fun!
So here is the living room…
It it hard to see the detail of the texture in these pictures.
You can see who was messier! Pat started to texture with his hands, ha ha.
We painted the entire house! Every room got new paint, so here it is…
In the entry way and game room we used the color “Foot Hills” from Sherwin-Williams. All of our paint is from Sherwin-Williams, we love them! I am going to add a glaze to the entry way. This is the entry way (left) and the game room (right).
In the Dining room and hallway we used “Diverse Beige”

I don’t have a recent picture of the dining room (that is it on the left) because it is our temporary storage area right now. That is the hallway on the right.
Pat & Jaimee and their painting skills!
The Living Room and 2 Guest Bedrooms along with the Jack & Jill bath were painted “Perfect Greige”. It is a great color – a perfect mix of grey and beige.
Blair also came over to help with the painting fun. This is us painting one of the guest bedrooms. Thanks guys, we really appreciate your help!
We painted the Kitchen and Master Bathroom a very light grey color called “Passive”. I did not want it to be too dark of a grey because I wanted the kitchen to be fresh, clean, and crisp – this is the perfect color for that!
We kept the same cabinets just painted them and placed glass on the ones that face the living room. We updated the hinges and the knobs. The cabinets, trim, and doors throughout the house are painted “Ivory Lace”. We also used “Ivory Lace” in flat for the fireplace. The cabinets across from the stove side are painted “Tricorn black” it gives it the effect of an island.
I want to do something like this to spice up the inside of the cabinets since we you will be able to see through and we have white dishes! I don’t know if I should do paint or wallpaper…any suggestions???
It is hard to visualize the before and after of the master bathroom because the layout is completely different!
The picture on the left is where the vanity will go. The picture on the right: the space on the other side of that wall is where the toilet will go.
Sorry this is becoming the longest post ever!!
Okay moving on…The Master Bedroom, Laundry, and Guest Bathroom (the one with the game room) are painted “Grey Matters”.
Here is the Master Bedroom before and after the paint.

Well I think that covers all the texture and painting. I am proud of you if you are still reading this, I think this was the longest post ever! Hope everyone is having a great week!

I think you should paint the inside of the cabinets. Depending on the decor you want to use in the kitchen. Maybe a dark red to make everything stand out, or a bright blue if you are going for brighter colors. The house looks beautiful!!
